Train Service in Malaga

Malaga has excellent train travel facilities to travel within all destinations in Spain and Europe. The María Zambrano station, Malaga is close to the city center and well connected to other parts of Spain. When the tickets are booked online or through phone, a booking reference is given which can be used to print the tickets from home or at the station. When purchasing the tickets at the station on the day of travel, one should arrive well in advance in order not to miss the train because of the long queues at the station.

Children under four years can travel free but they should not occupy a seat. There is 40% discount for children up to eleven years and those living in Spain with more than three children are allowed 20% discount for all. Senior citizens of Spain are also eligible for discounts in fare.

The travelers are allowed to take pets like dogs, cats, birds weighing up to 6kg. in a small cage. The fare will be 50% of the normal charges but only one animal is allowed per passenger. Two wheelers are allowed to book but subjected to availability. Almost all trains will have snack and soft drink dispensing machines, internal cafeteria service serving drinks and snacks are available in faster trains.

The ticket costs may be refunded if the train does not arrive on time. It is important to save the proof of the journey, the RENFE may refund the ticket fare partially or fully depending on the cause of delay and how late the train arrives at the destination.

Malaga’s Cathedral

 

 

Malaga’s Cathedral was built between the years 1528 and 1782 in several stages. This is a popular tourist destination and a national monument in Spain. It is officially named as the Holy Cathedral Church of the Incarnation (La Santa Iglesia Cathedral Basílica de la Encarnación). The interior of the Cathedral is Renaissance, while its facade is Baroque. The Cathedral is situated just near Alcazaba and the Castle of Gibralfaro.

Malaga’s Cathedral has a rectangular plan and composed of a wider nave and two aisles. The baroque style façade is divided in two floors; there are three arcs on the floor below. The north tower reaches up to 84 meters of height and the south tower is unfinished. Several important art works are seen in the interior of the cathedral. Notable among them are the gothic altarpiece of the Chapel of Santa Barbara and the 16th century tombs of the Chapel of San Francisco.
